It's not all so dark out there you know ...

17 November

What do you make of the latest killing by ISIS? The killers are claiming to be Muslims, but it’s nothing at all to do with Islam. It’s all down to one man’s dream of world domination. It’s been a dream so many before him have had and not one of them as managed it. This man won’t do it either but it will take a long time to show him he won’t win. It’s oh so easy for me to sit here at my keyboard and type this out and post it as normal. I’m not in any danger in doing so. I don’t live under that crazy ravings and demands. So many armchair generals say we should ‘send in the marine,’ but again, very easy to say, not so easy to do. And in any case, they won’t be the ‘marines’ being sent in will they?

When my family moved into our house on Bracebridge Street on 2 January 1970, there were very few ethnic minority people living in the street. Now most of the street is owned by them. The first family we become aware of was Mr & Mrs Hussain who moved in to next door to us five years after us. We sold the house a couple of years ago and in all that time we didn’t see or hear or experience any problems at all. Over the years I got to know a number of Muslim families and without exception they were all polite, kindly people who were trying to live peacefully within the neighbourhood. The main cause of the trouble was drunken white-British yobs who caused the trouble.

The ripples over Saville continue to grow don’t they? Now we have heard of a Tory MP who is said to have killed a 12 year boy at a sex party. There will be a lot of searches going on in and around Westminster to find and destroy any evidence that various departments might have where that person, or anyone else was involved. What it needs now is for one of the heavy papers to name him and anyone else who is in on the abuse. Just where will this all end up I wonder? The Church as a whole has been rocked by it; the police have been dragged over the coals for their lack of taking action when it was needed when it was reported to them. Just how much more can be found out?

And yet the country continues and the great British population have dug deep and donated a large sum of money for the annual Children in Need appeal. You see, no matter how black it all looks, the light is still there. People get married, ladies have babies and we all look for happy and good times.

And so for today’s photo …

A wedding party in the park outside Dorktown Registry Office.

And today’s funny …
