Kindle delivery

1 October 2011

Yesterday afternoon I bought a new Kindle for Jan off Amazon.  I paid the extra  for Saturday delivery so she could have straight away.  She's sat there like a cot on hot bricks waiting for it to arrive.  I have a Sony Reader and I'm happy with that so won't be buying a Kindle for myself.  There's a lot of talk lately about how the Kindle means the death books - as in ink on a page.  I don't see it that way.  I see it as two formats meeting two needs.  There's room for both.

My Nikon P5100 has been kicking up just lately by producing very noisy images.  The result is that I stopped using it and I really missed it.  It's a great little camera that slips into my pocket every time I go out.  That way I'm never without a camera.  A tip there for all snappers - always have a camera with you; you never know when it might be needed.  Anyway, I had a play with it yesterday and managed to sort it out.  Here's two shots taken in the Blue Bear on Abbey Street, Dorktown yesterday afternoon ...

As an aside, the Blue Bear is well worth a visit if you are ever in town.

Market day again so we will be off for a ride around and see if there's anything worthwhile there.  The last time we went down there on a Saturday we bought a new rug for our living room.  It was a good buy for £70.  Saturday is also a 'no local rag' day, so I don't have any Dorktown news for today which is both good and bad news depending on your outlook.  That reminds of something ...

Are you a 'glass half full' or a 'glass half empty' person?  Well, perhaps you might like to re-think it.  A glass is half full when it's being filled; a half empty glass comes about when the glass is being emptied.  So now which are you?

The Rochdale Sage has been in touch again ...
 Childbirth at 65
With all the new technology regarding fertility recently, a 65-year-old friend of mine was able to give birth.
When she was discharged from the hospital and went home, I went to visit.
'May I see the new baby?' I asked
'Not yet,' She said 'I'll make coffee and we can visit for a while first.'
Thirty minutes had passed, and I asked, 'May I see the new baby now?'
'No, not yet,' She said.
After another few minutes had elapsed,
I asked again, 'May I see the baby now?'
'No, not yet,' replied my friend.
Growing very impatient, I asked, 'Well, when can I see the baby?'
'WHEN HE CRIES!' she told me.
'WHEN HE CRIES?' I demanded. 'Why do I have to wait until he CRIES?'
'BECAUSE I FORGOT WHERE I PUT HIM,O.K.?!!!!
