School run again

The cops and firemen of Dorktown are getting their knickers in a twist over the way some parents are parking outside of schools when its kick-out time.  The local rag has picked on just one school here in Dorktown but to be honest, it's the same at all of them.  I once wrote a scathing attack on them when we lived close to a different school and regularly had our drive either blocked or parked on both in the mornings and in the afternoons.   The cops were not interested at that time.  The question though - why is this happening?

The answer lies in two, perhaps three reasons :-

1; There is a fear that kids are not safe on the street these days.  To some extent I agree but they do not go missing every day do they?  The result of the fear is more cars on the roads twice a day. 

2; The admissions policy.  In theory each school has a catchment area and should take all the kids from that area.  What happens though is that some parents want their kids to go to a different school and use any and every method to get them in - including lying and cheating!  The result is more cars on the roads twice a day.

3; Just plain old fashioned laziness!  The result is more cars on the road twice a day.

I have a feeling that some parents are also showing off their new cars or just using the school run as a social event too.  No way I can prove it, but there you go!

A young lout has stolen a purse from a pensioner while she was shopping in the Abbeygate shopping centre.  £125 was in there after she had just drawn her pension form the town's main post office in the centre.  She is now devastated and is likely to be nervous about going in there again.  Was there CCTV working in there and if so did it pick up the theft?  That's the first question the cops should be asking.

Are you like me?  Fed up to the back teeth with the limp wristed bleeding heart liberals who are making excuses for the riots last months?  There was on only one reason for it.  They did it cos they are criminals who were looking for an excuse to have a go at the cops and simply they could!  The country should ignore the do-gooders, the sociologists and political correct brigade and get on and do the job of protecting the victims and society as a whole and locking up the bad guys.  Prison works!  While these idiots are banged up they not out on the streets making life more difficult for the rest of us.  Yes, it costs money, they pay it!  stop wasting it on Trident nuclear submarines and spend it where it can do some good.

Yesterday morning I got another 2500 words wrote on Happyman.  Later in the evening I proof read 3 chapters of House of Pain.  Having a day off today I think.  We are due to order Jan's new car today and that is taking priority.  Tomorrow we are going off for the day - to Darlington of all places.  We both like the place and have actually discussed moving there when the time comes.  What I'm looking forward to is getting to the park there and getting some photos of the black swans they have.  They are beautiful birds too.  Should be lots of other photos too.  Maybe we might even get down to Richmond and get some of the river there ... better teke me tripod methinks.
