More snow, cunfused chaos and street lighting

11 February 2013

Dorktown has snow again - how unusual ;-)))  Mind you it's disappearing fairly quickly and we had no plans on going out until later today at 4pm.  We have a load of stuff to go to a charity shop but the town centre roads aren't open until 4 o'clock.  There's so many charity shops though that I'm not sure which one we shall take it all to, PDSA or the county air ambulance - and there's a lot of it.

There we were sorting out all the stuff for this afternoon and Jan answers the phone.  It was the stoma nurse letting Jan know she was due in to hospital at 3.30 this afternoon ready for her op tomorrow morning.  That has meant a rush to get ready for it all, a rush we could have done without to be honest.  Jan had been told that the op was on Wednesday with admission tomorrow.  Good job the nurse phoned today to her know.  The other item for Wednesday is the new sofa being delivered; but guess what; we had the wrong day for that as well.  It's coming tomorrow too.  Talk about confused chaos ... ... ...

The public reaction against the idea of charging for parking at the Pingles leisure centre has forced the council into a re-think.  Now they have changed their minds and the idea has been binned - at least for now.  The other issue which is upsetting many people is the street switching off saga.  It seems that some areas of the town are now in darkness while others are still well lit.  It's strange that eh?  But not when you realise that it is the more affluent areas of the town which are in the light and the less affluent, mainly council estates areas are in the dark.  The idea is to switch of 80% of the county's lights; but surely that should 80% of ALL lights not all in one area and none in another.  Oh yes - the county council is Tory led - I can't help but wonder about the reasoning behind this issue even more now.

Time for a photo ...

a coot - my favourite bird.

And a funny ...

My kids want a dog but I've refused to get them a Labrador.
It's frightening how many Labrador owners you see that have gone blind.
