KFC, scams and a trial

12 October 2012

KFC have done it yet again, mind you the local council didn't help matters really.  A planning application was made by KFC about building a new outlet on a corner  on a busy one way system - and with a school within 200 metres of the chosen site.  The council cocked up when they didn't deal with the application in the time limit allowed.  KFC then appealed and trampled all over local views and opposition and they have won their case.  Some faceless moron in Bristol has given the OK to build the outlet on the site of a former pub.  It won't be long then before we get traffic problems on that road.  The thing is, it's the main access from the town centre to Weddington where we now live.  The only other useable access is by a diversion of around two miles.  KFC of course don't care about that.  All they can see is £ and p signs - mostly from the kids at the school!

There was a little more in the News this morning about the murder trial.  It is now being moved away from Warwick Crown Court to Birmingham Crown Court.  The judge has ordered that details are not to be published, but actually the News is claiming that they don't know why the jury was dismissed and the trial moved.  All that does is to make people wonder about what has gone on.  Keeping the reasons quiet is OK I suppose but there will be speculation over it.  At some time the media will become aware of the reason and at that time the question of public interest will come to fore and need to be dealt with.  But at what point does public interest come second to secrecy?  Are the reason so serious that the public may be in danger because of it?

We are due to have Kile this weekend.  Jan was saying yesterday about how well he is doing at school these days.  That is all very good news for us all in the family.  We hope he continues as he is of course.  We were hoping to take him out this weekend but the weather forecast isn't so good so I don't think we will be going anywhere.  Pity that, I was looking forward to getting away on Sunday for a few hours.

So photo time ... seeing as I am on about Kile, and it'll soon be Halloween again, here he is ...

as a vampire last year.

And the Rochdale Sage has sent a scam warning ...

Women  often receive warnings about protecting themselves when out shopping and in dark  car parks, etc. This is the first warning I have seen for men.  I wanted to  pass it on in case you haven't heard about it.  A 'heads up' for those men  who may be regular customers at MORRISONS, Waitrose, Tesco
& Sainsbury. This  one   caught me totally by surprise. Over the last month I  became a victim of a clever scam while out shopping. Simply going out to get  shopping has turned out to be quite traumatic. Don't be naive enough to think it  couldn't happen to you or your friends.
Here's how the scam works. Two nice looking, teenage girls  will come over to your car as you are packing your purchases into your vehicle.  They both start wiping your windscreen with a cloth and glass cleaner, with  their breasts almost falling out of their skimpy T-shirts. (It's impossible not  to look). When you  thank them and offer them a tip, they  say 'No' but instead ask for a lift to McDonald's. You agree and they climb into the vehicle.  On the  way, they start
undressing. Then one of them starts crawling all over you, while  the other one
steals your wallet.
I  had my wallet stolen May 4th, 9th, 10th, twice on the 15th, again on the 17th,  20th, 24th, and the 29th. Also June 1st, 4th, 8th, twice on the 10th & 12th,  and very likely again this upcoming weekend.  So tell your friends to be careful. What a horrible way to  take advantage of us older men. Warn your friends to be  vigilant.
Asda has wallets on sale  for £2.99 each. I found even cheaper ones for .99p at the Poundworld. Also, you  never get to eat at McDonald's.  I've already lost 11 pounds just running back  and forth between Tesco to Sainsbury's to Waitrose.
So please, send this on to all the retired men that you  know, and warn them to be on the lookout for this evil scam. (The best times are  just before lunch and around 4:30 in the afternoon.)
