Windows, a body and writing

8 may 2013

Today we are stuck in waiting for council repair man to come and fix out bathroom window.  Last night when we tried to close it, it just wouldn't close, let alone locking it!  Normally we wouldn't have worried so much about getting it done so quickly but the bathroom faces the road out front.  An open window there on the front is like a welcome mat to a would be thief.  We have been promised that it will be repaired today; so we have to wait for the man to arrive.

The Coventry Canal tow path can be a nice walk heading north out of Dorktown.  But on Monday morning a dog walker, yes, the proverbial dog walker found a bady floating in the canal by the Anchor pub at Hartshill.  Of course and investigation is now ongoing to find out who the dead man is and then to look for any suspicious circumstances.  Right now I feel for the poor old dog walker.  It can't be fun finding something like that.

Jan was out last night and I got a good bit of writing done, around 3500 words I think.  I was rather pleased with myself over it ... until I got to bed!  It then dawned on me just how easy it had been to write what has turned out to be porn.  Now I have to cut it from my new novel; why?  Well, the first two Fred Cooper books are nowhere near so graphic and that scene is totally out of character with the first two novels.  Of course, I won't be deleting it; after all, it will no doubt fit in somewhere else.  But what surprised me more was the ease at which I wrote it.

A photo for today then ...

a small wrecked bridge over the River Thames at the Cotswold Water Park.

And a funny ...

I went to the cemetery yesterday to lay some flowers on a grave. As I was standing there I noticed 4 grave diggers walking about with a coffin... 3
hours later and they're still walking about with it... I thought to myself, these buggers have lost the plot!!
