Yesterday we
were expecting coast to coast rain for most of the day. Instead we had a nice day really
weather-wise. So still wondering if it
would rain at some time we took the chance and went out for a couple of
hours. Jan wanted one of those blow up
pillows so our first stop was Jackson's of Arley, a major
camping/caravan/outdoor store. While we
were there had a look at the tents ... bad decision that! Since the 1980's we have both loved camping
but a couple of years ago we came to realize that we are just not up to
erecting a tent now, let alone sleeping on a camp bed. So we sold our full camping set up on EBay.
Jackson's
has some really nice tents for sale, one priced at £199 would suit us to the
ground - err, no pun intended. But
that's just the start of course. Then we
would have to add two camp beds, two new sleeping bags, a gas cooker and gas,
electric hook-up gear seeing as we like to have a little bit of luxury with
us. And then there is all the other
bits'n'bobs that get bought as you go on.
We were firm though - and left Jackson's with the pillow, an egg poacher
and something else I can't remember - shows how essential it was eh ;-))) Top and bottom of it all is that we finally
got home around 5.30, no rain though and far too late for blog entry.
Right now we
have a bright sunny day and seeing as I've a letter come in today telling me I
had an overdue library book. Oh what a
naughty boy I am! I'd better get it returned
before the cops come and break down our front door at dawn because of it. I do have another one that's overdue
too. I hope they don't do dawn raids on
two following days ;-)))
Our flat is
one of a fairly large two story block.
The whole complex consists of three such blocks. Each block is divided into sub-blocks of four
flats each. As part of each block there
is a large green rubbish bin. In our
block of four we are the only couple with three single occupants in the
others. The bins are emptied every
Wednesday; yet by Thursday it is full again.
Now I just
don't believe that five people can fill that bin in less than 24 hours. We have suspected that people living in the
houses across the road are using them.
We are right to think that seeing as Jan went out to her car and saw a
man for three downs down from us carrying a number of black bags towards our
bin. As soon as he saw Jan he backtracked
and put them in his boot. While I and
out today I shall call in and see if I can get the council to fit looks to the
doors into the bin storage area. It
might sound petty but the whole thing is starting to cause problems between the
four household in this block with some blaming others for the amount of rubbish. It's something that needs sorting now, not
when after there is a serious disagreement!
Today's
photo is of ...
a lapwing I got when we were at Attenbourgh the other week.
And today's
funny ...
I've just
had a letter back from Screwfix. They said they regretted to inform me that
they're not actually a dating agency.
