Where's the justice?

13 October

Jan is off out her usual Tuesday evening meeting, except it’s changed from a bible study to a prayer meeting. Their new pastor has decided it was time the place had one. Jan has been asking for it for some time now. When we first began attending that church there were two such meeting, one on Monday evening and one on Wednesday at 7am. Very few attended the later one. Right now, well, I can’t be bothered to get involved with all that palaver again, even I do still have my faith. Anyway …

That airliner that was shot down over the Ukraine was, apparently hit by a Russian made SAM missile – so what’s new there then? Most folks knew that anyway. The report on the incident has stopped short of naming which side did it, but does that really matter? I don’t think so. Whoever it was, the airspace should not have been open to civil airplanes. Not only that but Russia supplied the missile anyway, either to their own forces of the Ukrainian forces. For me, I wouldn’t be surprised if it was fired by the Russian forces actually in Ukraine. Yet again it’s Putin flexing his muscles.

The Labour party is in total disarray right now and I don’t see any sign of it improving any time soon. Great hopes rose when Corbyn won the leadership battle and yet so far he has done little to justify the faith placed in him. So far he looks rather weak and dithery, and the latest spat over the economy doesn’t look at all good. Sadly, it looks like we have to get used to even longer under the Tory yolk of ‘greed is good’; well, at least for those who can try to satisfy that greed.

Locally, we have travellers causing more havoc all over the town. The latest is they have ignored a court order to leave yet another council owned area of land. I know there are similar problems all of the country but around here it is causing some very unhappy folks who have to foot the bill for them every time they set up somewhere. It’s not as though they have enough money to pay any site fees, let’s face it, just look at their caravans, cars and trucks they all have. They live as they do, not because of tradition or such crap but because they don’t want to spend money on anything they think they should for nothing.

For me it’s way past time when court orders for confiscation of their processions was issued. Why should they get away with it? If I don’t pay my rent here I will get evicted eventually. Failure to pay for electricity means I get cut-off. Not having a TV licence means I face a fines and possible jail time if caught. Claiming it’s a traditional way of life is the biggest con they do. Pleading human rights has been used and they’ve lost on that one too. These people must be the biggest enemies of the Tories who hate anything that smacks of ‘sumat for nowt’. So why aren’t they dealing with it? Maybe because they might not be easy target that the disabled, elderly and jobless are!
