trying to keep calm ...

2 October

We are all up in the air again right now. Kile is coming to us for this weekend, OK, fine, but we are getting fed up with being told what to do with him when he is with us by his nan. Jan told her firmly today that she didn’t need telling how to deal with him and don’t need or want her help. I’m not sure how effective it will be. The lady will not get away with it with me, that’s for damned sure! As for Kile, well, he’s in trouble yet again. He sent Jan a text message saying he will coming direct to us from school. BUT … he was still in class when he sent it. That upset both his mum and nan with Jan getting involved cos she was there too.

Rip-off Britain has just been sent an email over that holiday we had last year. What I included was the letter that I originally sent in to Thomas Cook via Co-op Travel, I don’t know what they will think of it or even if its too late to do anything about it though. What I di know is the report I posted on Trip Advisor has received over 1000 views with most viewers saying they found it helpful. Whatever, I will wait and see.

The story of 14 year old British boy who plotted and encouraged an 18 year old to commit a terrorist attack in Australia, should concern us all. Because of his age he might actually be free after just five years should also be a concern. Overturning his radicalised terrorist mind-set will take much longer than five years, and even then I am not sure that any such efforts will work, except to enable him to bluff his way out early so he can run off and join the fighters.

When the internet was first thought up in the Defence Dept of the US, the idea was that there would be unified system to bring the US Armed Forces together by one communications system instead of three that SECDEF had to use at that time. As the various developers and engineers began rolling out their systems I’m sure they have no idea how far things would go, or how many criminal activities would take it up and use it. Now of course, the stopper is out of the bottle and there’s no way of putting it back. All we can do is to be on our guard at all times when we use the ‘net.
