More NHS problems

7 September

Jan is out again today to visit the dentist in Bed’th, so I thought I might have a ride into town while she was out. However, Jan went off to her Bible Study group last night and while she was out I decided to do a bit of writing. The result is that I have managed to get Bristol Fashion up to just over 40,000 words, so now I’m stumped what to do. Do I stay home and add more words, or do I go out and take few photos, spend dosh on diet cokes and read while drinking them? And I thought retirement would be fun … … …

Has the Rio Olympics been a success do you think? I’m not so sure really. Team GB won loads of medals so for our team it has been. Ticket sales are again poor for the Para-Olympics, just as with the Olympics. The IOC took a big risk in allowing the games to be held in South America for the first time. I think it has been a failure over all. However, what of the future in Rio without the Games?

Brazil is not one of the richest countries and the controversies over the removal of poorer peoples being moved away ready for building of the stadiums, isn’t good at all. It is also a violent city, something that seems to have been kept fairly quiet during the games. Add in the political problems over their president, and it all paints a bleak picture. If the country itself is in a mess, what of the sport legacy that is supposed to follow? And don’t forget folks, Brazil has a huge tropical forest with a massive River running through it. What will happen to that in the future?

Back here in England the NHS is again in the headlines over two different stories. The first is the sideways move of the chief executive of Southern Health who resigned and now has been given a newly created post at the same salary. She resigned over the poor performance of the trust under her hands. Now she has a new job as a consultant/advisor to GPS; ye gods, why can’t they see and understand that so many of people would be angry over it.

The second story is here in the Midlands where ambulance are no longer allowed to take children to A&E in Redditch in an emergency, even if they have arrested. Now those have kids have to be taken to Worcester, a 40 minute road trip. The chief exec there is saying that it’s not a cost cutting measure, claiming that they don’t have the staff to cover by sites. Oh really? Then why not hire more staff then? Oh yes, of course, they can’t afford too. These people think we must be all stupid or something!

Staying on the NHS for time, I’m glad Jan has been sent to Brum for her operation next year, simply because one of the consultants here in Dorktown seem to maim patients rather than curing them. I’ve lost count of the number of folks who have suffered under this man’s ‘care’, one of the is a cousin of mine. A few of the victims have taken legal over it; most of them have gave up when the hospital trust stood firmly in the way making the process so hard that on top of their health, they found it impossible to continue the fight. Hopefully that man has retired and the maiming has stopped.

A photo then …

I love this flower in the zoo hothouse.

A funny …

Why do dogs meditate?
They like to paws for thought.
