15 May
Sunday
morning, nice and sunny out, if a tad windy by the looks of it, and yet we are
sat inside instead of going off out for a few hours. The obvious reason is that
is still not up to driving yet after her stoma repair in Wednesday. Dorktown is
hardly a tourist hot-spot destination which means that few if any of the shops
in town will be open, apart from the supermarkets that is. That is why Brum or
Coventry is worth the effort to go to on Sundays. Of course, they have decent
museums, art galleries, architecture and of course speciality shops galore. So
for now we are sat here playing on our ‘puters.
On the
face of it we have a clear week ahead of us, but we don’t actually. It’s true
that we don’t have any booked appointments this coming week, but there are a
few ‘maybe’ that we have to think about. Tomorrow we may get either a phone
call or a visit for the nurse who did my memory test the other week. She is due
to let us know if there is an issue that needs further testing/investigation or
meds that might be needed. Jan is expecting a phone call from a GP sometime on
Wednesday, and on Thursday, we are due to have our next month of meds
delivered. So from what looks like a clear week on paper, we are likely to be
having a bitie week again, just the sort of week that sends me down to the
Black Dog country. But hang on a mow … Kile is due next weekend … oh goodie,
something to like forward to.
Somewhere
close by there’s someone hammering and banging on something. That’s fine, we
don’t get it all that often, and besides, it’s 12.10 now, so we have no reason
to complain. We are quite lucky here in that we don’t have a lot of noise going
on near us. But do have some very strange loud bumps and bangs going on in our
kitchen every day. We’ve looked to see if we can find what is causing it but
haven’t found the cause.
There is
one sound that is getting to me a good bit though. Most days I am woken up by
music playing somewhere close by, usually a jingle type sound used by radio
stations. It’s not loud in anyway, not at all, but what concerns me is that can’t
hear it at all, but there again, Jan has a 75% hearing loss anyway. We have
thought it might be from Mark upstairs. I don’t think so though seeing as it’s
happened again this morning and we know that Mark isn’t there at the moment. But
you know what? Once I’m up and out of bed, I can’t hear that damned music at
all. Strange or wot … … …
My AP arrived
as normal for Saturday morning (something to look forward to for now at least).
There’s a lot in there this week on landscape photos. I’ve yet to get a decent
landscape photo of any sort, I just can’t see them. Most of the better ones are
of wide open spaces, well of the normal roads and pathways. That is a limit for
me these days too, seeing that I can hardly walk at all now. One of the regular
columnists is Roger Hicks, one of my favourite snappers and writers. In this
column he chooses an image from another snapper and explains how he sees it why
it works for him.
This week
he has chosen a shot by Tina Schelhorn, no, I’ve not heard of her either. This
shot is of a wire cage like construction that includes the top being cage too.
Hicks explains that there is something about metal and sky that snappers find
hard to resist, he’s one of them, so am I. So for today’s photo I offer …
A
pylon shot in Kingsbury last weekend.
Today’s
funny …
A man and his wife entered the dentist's office.
"I want a tooth pulled, "the man said. "We are in a big hurry, so let us not fool around with gas or Novocain or any of that stuff."
"You are a very brave man," remarked the dentist. "Which tooth is it?"
"Show him your bad tooth, honey," said the man to his wife.
