Drugs, theives and jail

21 June 2013

The Hussy is on the front page of the Dorktown News again this morning.  However, it's not because of anything that they have, or haven't done.  This time it's because of thefts from patient and visitors cars parked there.  The main story is of a satnav taken from the car of a woman who was visiting her mum who has cancer.  My initial thoughts were that no-one should leave any valuables in sight at any car park but why should we need to worry about that?  In the case I'm speaking of here. the offender is a heroin addict who was stealing to feed that habit.

Having been on the receiving end of such thefts I have no sympathy for these addicts at all.  I've had cops come to see me over a break in and try to make excuses for the person concerned.  I don't accept them!  After all, no-on forced that person to start smoking; no-one forced him to try cannabis; no-one forced him to go for heroin.  No, he did it all by choice and I have no sympathy for him at all.

Same with the moron who stole that satnav.  Why should we be sympathetic towards him?  No, society has to be protected from such people.  If alcoholism is an illness, is drug addiction an illness too?  If so maybe the addicts should be in a long stay secure hospital where they can't harm anyone else.  In not kick their butts into jail for life!

We were due to have Kile for the weekend.  He was sent home by his teacher yesterday because he was running a high temperature and was complaining of a painful stomach and legs.  This morning he got up he still has a temp of 1000 and was still in pain.  He's staying at home now then.

So now to find a photo ...

back to Weston for this one again; it's part of the town centre.

And thanks to the Sage for this one ...

One afternoon a lawyer was riding in his limousine when he saw two men along the road-side eating grass.  Disturbed, he ordered his driver to stop and got out to investigate.  He asked one man, "Why are you eating grass?"
"We don't have any money for food," the poor man replied.  "We have to eat grass."
"Well, then, you can come with me to my house and I'll feed you, " the lawyer said.
"But sir, I have a wife and two children with me. They are over there, under that tree."
"Bring them along," the lawyer replied.  Turning to the other poor man he stated, "You may come with
us, also."
The second man, in a pitiful voice, then said, "But sir, I also have a wife and SIX children with me!"
"Bring them all as well," the lawyer answered.
They all entered the car, which was no easy task, even for a car as large as the limousine was.
Once under way, one of the poor fellows turned to the lawyer and said, "Sir, you are too kind."
"Thank you for taking all of us with you.
The lawyer replied, "Glad to do it. You'll really love my place. The grass is almost a foot high."

Come on now...you really didn't think there was such a thing as a heart-warming lawyer story...did you????
