Brum in the sun, bedroom slippers and that sinking feeling

19 July

Jan’s sister Trish now lives in the outskirts of Bangkok. She apparently can’t get any bedroom slippers out there so asked Jan to get her some and post them out. Sounds simply eh? Opps … no, it enna. Misquoting and old jugged hare recipe, ‘First buy your sleepers’. It says. To that end we had a trip to Brum, first in months; I we couldn’t find any slippers anywhere. Even the cheaper shoe shop didn’t have any, including both the markets. So, Jan did the best she can and got her some pumps, if they work, then that’s it I’m afraid.

Even though the primary item we went to Brum for was a wash out, we still had ourselves a good out. We try to park in the disabled drivers bays by Moat Street multi-story car park. Yesterday we were lucky and got in there; mind you, we did get there earlier than we normally do. When we got to our car, look at what was parked behind us … Now that is one lovely Jag! Oh for the dosh to buy one …

but there again, they do cost the earth to run and insurance would be a nightmare!

There has been a big fuss about the new, New Street Station on the local news. So yesterday we went for a look and I have to be honest and say that I’m not all that impressed. It was supposed to be bright and airy, but it looked pretty dark and miserable to me. They have finished one entrance to it anyway …

That’s pretty smart, or would be if the roads were being dug up to lay the new tram lines down the middle of them!

Jan has picked up a new bug doing the rounds; this one is called DSLR Video Capture. She’s already posted a few vids on Facebook. The photo editor we use is Elements 11 and the disc also has Premier 11 on it too. So she’s tried loading that onto her lappy to use for editing. OK, done … BUT … when she save an item using it, it only will only save in its own file format. Once she opens it later, it opens in the full Premier software desktop. So we looked around for a different software package. Lots of ideas about but no real advice and no new software either. So the search continues … … …

We are getting more and more problems with people parking the bays outside the flats here. I left a note on one last night. Now there’s a note on our car too, probably from the owner of the car we left one on. It’s raining now so I don’t fancy going out in it to get it but we will have to so soon seeing as we have parked in Tony’s disabled place. He’s now outside our place. We’ll get swapped about as soon as we can.

Let’s see what history has for us today … Today we go back to 1545 when Harry 8 was on the throne. His pride ship the Mary Rose sank with all 700 hands (shouldn’t that really be 1400 hands) sank in the Solent. You can see the remains of her in Portsmouth, if you are all interested.

I suppose I can find a third photo for today …

Not sure if she was getting a photo but it was worth a snap myself.

And today’s funny …

Yo mama’s so stupid when she saw the sign “Airport Left” she turned around and went home.
