Last
night I got a good part of the Windows 10 review read and it’s a bit of
mish-mash really. Reports so far from readers who have downloaded it seem on
the whole to be positive, but there is a significant minority who have reported
problems. It seems the MS need to gain as much dosh as they can from users of 10
seeing as they are not charging for it. One such cost is a yearly subscription for
Solitaire, not for the game itself, no, but to prevent all the ads from
appearing while you play it. Some of those ads are coming as full screen
windows too.
Another
one is DVD player seeing as they have ditched Windows Media player. They want
you to buy Windows DVD Player at £11.59, but it has a lot bugs in it so the mag
says to use VLC instead, which is free (www.videolan.org/vlc).
The final
verdict is broken down into four areas; Features gets four stars; performance
and stability gets five; security and privacy only gets three stars though;
ease of use gets five. Overall they’ve given it four stars, which can’t be bad
really. In the conclusion they say that a lot of people will come to prefer it
over 7. Lastly they say that they think it will be worthwhile installing it so
as to refresh your PC and keep it working well into the future … unless of
course you get a hardware failure!
For me
though I think I will wait until next January to do so. By then most of what
bugs it might have should be ironed out. What I am nervous about it how it will
react on this one PC. When I moved from 8 to 8.1 it didn’t work to well at all
and I would seriously pissed if it happened again.
Jan is
off to pick up Kile for a few days, or maybe even a week … of my … how will I
manage that! After that a bit of Asda shopping before they get home. We have
promised to take him out this week seeing as we haven’t done so for some time,
but from what I have seen of the weather so far it’s not looking too good. Jan
wants to go to West Midlands Safari Park now that moneys are no longer running
wild through the grounds. Kile will like that too and I shall have to make sure
his camera batteries are all fully charged. And mine of course …
Today’s
photo then …
Part of Riversley Park.
Today’s
funny is another one liner …
We put in our two cents, but only get a penny for our
thoughts. Who gets the extra penny?
