Henceforth
Saturday will not be called Lieinday here in Jaronland. This change has come
about because there are no workers hammering and banging on the outside of our
building. We have peace for two days.
Peace
is something that on this day in 1944 was a long way off still. The peace that
finally came was begun on the beaches of Normandy; peace that cost a large
number of casualties among the worlds’ fighting men storming ashore, thereby
marking the start in getting rid Hitler and his band of thugs. Of course it
would be over a year before the final peace deal was signed by Japan. Sadly
though, real peace has not happened. I wonder how many wars there has been
since 1945?
The
plan for today was go off into town on our scooters, and when we got up it
still stood; then we when I saw the high winds outside I decided against it.
Jan is going out later though, she has a new pair of shoes to collect from
Midland & Lifestyle (http://www.mobilityandlifestyle.co.uk/),
but will go in the car instead. She has a few other bits to do as well, so it
makes sense really. I shall sit and watch The
Longest Day, for umpteenth time.
I
just got caught out again. King’s Doctor
Sleep mentioned a different version of Google Earth, called Twirl 360.
Before you go racing off to look at it, don’t bother, it doesn’t seem to cover
the UK. I tried looking at Dorktown and it ended up in central Europe
somewhere. I’ll stick to Google Earth thank you Mr King!
Today’s
photo then …
The
Dorktown Hussy.
Today’s
funny …
What's the difference between a supermarket trolley
and a politician? You can get more food and drink into a politician.
