Result of a storm, two R's and civil war

11 December

That was some storm we had last night folks and this is what we woke up to this morning …

We called the council first thing and it appears that the tree actually belongs to the guy next door. He’s just been round to see us about getting it cut back and is supposed to be calling back in a while. We will suggest that he leaves it until the weekend because right now there is no light out there at all. Up to him I suppose.

Right outside our rear door is another tree, and elm tree. It has been suggested that it might actually be an English elm tree. If that is so, then maybe the plans to remove it next year might come to a crashing stop. English elms were decimated years ago when Dutch elm disease spread thought the UK leaving very few English elm untouched. Again, we are on hold with that one.

We have no plans for going out and doing anything right now. In fact, neither of us have been out since Tuesday evening when Jan went to her bible study thingy. The result is that we have caught up with all our recorded telly shows and I’ve caught up with all my magazine reading too; things are starting to get very boring right now. Perhaps a trip into town for some new ones is about due eh? I wonder how Jan would go for that idea. In fact, last night we watched Jurassic Park II for the 3rd or 4th time.

One of the programmes we watched today was A&E in the War Zone.  That was one the most harrowing things I’ve ever seen! War at any time is a terrible thing to wage, and most people do know and understand that. What makes it worse is a civil war, and even so more where when most of the casualties are children. Yet that seems to be the norm in civil war doesn’t it. The programme was shot in Syria, a Muslim country. And remember folks that the claim is made that name ISLAM is meant to me PEACE. I don’t see anything peaceful in Syria; do you? Ah well, nothing I can do about that I suppose.

Today’s photo then …

A B&W image of some of the mud areas of Titchwell, Norfolk, where they RSPB is now allowing the area to return to a salt marsh by allowing the sea un hindered access.

And today’s funny …
