Oh dear;
poor old Richard Branson has lost his bid to keep his train set. I do feel sorry for him, I mean, how will he
manage to live on the profits of just a media company, airline and travel company,
a bank and over 400 other concerns around the world. There is supposed to be a benefit for
Dorktown over it though; more through trains to London will be scheduled, something
Virgin wouldn't do.
It looks
like this weekend will be a nice one so hopefully we will be able to go birding
on Saturday. The question is, where will
we go? This time of year tends to be
rather quiet because the birds are hiding where they lose their old plumage and
grow a new set. We will still give it a
go though. Maybe a trip to Newport on
the Severn estuary, there's a RSPB site there that we've only been to once.
Crime is a
difficult concept for some people to grasp.
Shopping lifting is theft; burglary is theft; assault is violence and so
on. Up to a point I can understand these
offences, I don't condone them because they are all wrong but the bulk of it is
to provide money for what the offender feels he/she needs. But what about child sexual assault? How can that ever explained? To my mind it is the very worst of criminal
offences. Dorktown now has a 26 year old
out on bail awaiting trial at Warwick Crown Court on 15 child sex
offences. It's so sad the these men
can't leave the kids alone. What have
they done to him to make him to treat them in such an awful way. Time to lock him up and throw the key away
methinks!
Yesterday
Jan corrected me about Charlie; Charlie is a she, not a he. Good job she doesn't know what I said then eh
;-))) So today's photo is one I got last
week sometime ...
Here you see a load of smokers all standing around the main
door, the only door with level access into the Felix Holt pub in Dorktown. This is a regular thing in many pubs all over
the country. What really bugs me is that
it is thought that 75% of the population of the UK are non-smokers. If so, why do we, the majority 75% of us have
to put up with the minority 25% polluting the air we all have to breath?
And so to a
funny ...
For all
Catholics who have pondered this philosophical conundrum.....
A man wonders if having sex on Sunday is a sin because he is not sure if sex is work or play.
He goes to a priest and asks for his opinion on this question.
After consulting the Bible, the priest says, "My son, after an exhaustive search, I am positive that sex is work and is therefore not permitted on Sundays."
The man thinks: "What does a priest know about sex?"
So he goes to a Lutheran minister, who after all is a married man and experienced in this matter. He queries the minister and receives the same reply: "Sex is work and therefore not for the Sabbath!"
Not pleased with the reply, he seeks out a Rabbi, a man of thousands of years tradition and knowledge. The Rabbi ponders the question, then states, "My son, sex is definitely play."
The man replies, "Rabbi, how can you be so sure when so many others tell me sex is work?"
The Rabbi softly speaks, "My son, if sex were work, my wife would have the maid do it."
