28 June
Another week has just flown by. I remember someone
saying that the older you get, the faster time seems to pass by. I can really
see that now. It’s two years now since we moved here into our one bedroomed
flat. And yet it seems not too long ago really, just a few months to me. The
other saying is ‘Time flies when you’re having fun.’ That one is true too.
Today it’s Armed Forces Day. There is an event going
on in town but the weather forecast is for our area is pretty dire, so I shall
be staying at home. I’d love to go down and have a look, however, getting wet
while sitting in a scooter will not do me any good at all. So today I shall be
doing all my supporting on-line and in spirt only.
eBay has been sending me loads of reminders to reset
my password. I haven’t bothered with doing it simply because my account has
been blocked. The reason for that is that I owe them £19.99. This happened because
I received a new debit card from my bank. I have tried on a number of occasions
to pay this fee but the system has constantly refused to let me add the new
card to the account. Well, last night it did finally allow me to do so and I
added an even newer card to the account and pay the dosh I owed. Now all I need
to do is to wait for their systems to get round to opening my account again.
All this came about because of something I mentioned
yesterday, that song by Nightwish; I wanted to see if they had a CD out. They
do, loads of them! What I didn’t know was that they are a hard rock band from
Scandinavia I think. I’m not usually in to that sort of music but I will be
getting one of their CDs when I can.
Our weekly history lesson has had a holiday for a
couple weeks, mainly cos I forgot to do it. Ah well … here we go again. It was
today in 1838 that Queen Vic was crowned in Westminster Abbey, an event that
began the so-called ‘Victorian Period’. While many people did well during it with
increased wealth and influence; at the same time poverty, with its soul-mates homelessness,
illness, drunkenness also increased. A small number of the wealthy people tried
to help the poverty-stricken, but it was a very small number.
Today’s photo is a mono shot of a plant I saw when
were out one day …
And today’s funny …
