Well, it's going ahead, Trish and Keith that is are booked
on to a flight to Thailand tomorrow. Jan
has taken the chance today and gone to Ringwood to her Trish for the last
time. I'll be pleased Trish has gone in
reality. I've never really got with
her. Their brother Gordon is entirely
different; I've got on well with him from the first time I met him.
A TV show recommendation again ... Perspectives, presented by David Suchet. I recorded it on Sunday night and have set
the recorder to do all 7 of them. The
one I have just watched was on Agatha Christie and was excellent. I hope that the others are as good. But d'you know, I've never read any of her
books. I loved the Joan Dickson Miss
Maples films but have been a bit on/off the Poirot stories, no matter who
played the part. I wonder who the next
one will be about. According to Total TV
it's not on this coming Sunday, been taken off for damned silly football!!!
The News front
page is a good one again, although the subject of the story itself isn't at all
good. It's a road rage incident where a cyclist
was attacked by the passenger in a small silver car. The cyclist pulled out of side road even
though he was aware that the car was driving around a roundabout about 200
yards off. There was no way that he was
in the way of car or held it up at all.
Yet the passenger opened the door of the moving car knocking the cyclist
off his bike. He then got out of the car
and kicked the man while he was on the ground; at some point it caused the cyclist
to end up with a broken arm. I just
can't understand what is wrong with so many people who race around all over the
place. No-one can be in that much of a
rush! Sadly of course, there's not
enough coppers about to deal with it is there?
Even if there was enough them, they couldn't be everywhere
all the time. And that is why so much
bad driving is going on all over the country.
On Saturday on our way back home we saw something that we've seen on
telly a number of times but hadn't seen out on the roads. It's a driver realising that he needed to
take an off ramp too late and driving over the hash markings to get on the
right road for him. Bloody crazy
driving! After all, there's enough signs
on and beside the roads to inform drivers of the exits. It's just down to carelessness and a lack of
attention!
Bad driving is one of my hobby horses I'm afraid. You see it all over the place. Locally here in Dorktown we see stories in
the News of bad driving and fines
being levied against the drivers. Now,
I'm not saying that I am the very best driver on the road, oh no. I'm an average driver, just the same as
everyone else. The majority of bad
driving cases are drivers who think they are better drivers than anyone
else. But what constitutes bad driving
then?
What so many people forget when they get behind the wheel of
a car is that they are in control of a potential killing machine. In my mind then, any driving that is contrary
to the Highway Code is bad driving.
Speeding, jumping red lights (now there's a way for councils to make a
lot of dosh!) not giving way to vehicles from the right on traffic islands,
tail gating and oh so many more things that cause a lot of hassle on the
road. Anyway ... enough! Time for a photo ...
And seeing as I've majored on driving today, how about this
...
an Austin A35 I snapped in Porthmadog a few weeks ago.
Now for a funny ...
Attending a wedding
for the first time, a little girl whispered to her mother,
'Why is the bride dressed in white?''
The mother replied, 'Because white is the colour of happiness, and today is the happiest day of her life.'
The child thought about this for a moment then said, 'So why is the groom wearing black?'
