Not a good
night last night; we were woken at 0210hrs by shouting and bumping and banging
in the flat above us. We know the man in
there and get on OK with him, but it wasn't him this morning. Jan ended up calling the cops over it. Even so, Jan was really shaken by it. Years ago someone walked into our home in
Bed'th and in his rush to get out he knocked Jan over and she got hurt by
it. Last night caused flash-backs for
her and that makes it all the worse really.
Mark is a
nice enough chap but he suffers quite badly with stress and depression. When it strikes he tends to spend a lot of
time at his parent's home which means the flat is not being lived in. Just lately there has been a succession of
different people living there. As much
as we like Mark we do feel uneasy with some of these people. The guy opposite us and the young lass above
him are also quite vulnerable; because of this and us feeling nervous we have
reported it to the council. They gave us
some incident reporting sheets, or diary sheets as they call them. This incident has now been put down on there.
The News this morning has a report on a
court case over the death of a young man on the A444 Bed'th bypass. It seems that the police have done a lot of
investigating of the incident and have come to the conclusion that the driver
of the car who struck the young man wouldn't have any chance of see him and
taking avoiding actions before he hit the man.
What he should have done of course was to have remained on the scene and
phone the police and ambulance. Instead
he drove off and that makes it a hit and run, and that is what he has been
charged with. But I'm puzzled ... this
incident happened at around 4am. So what
the heck was the young man doing walking along an unlit major road at that time
in the morning? And come to think of it,
what was the driver doing out at that time too?
The GP
phoned as expected this morning, well, nearly, she was around 15 minutes late
actually. I'll let her off that - generous
of me eh ;-))) All my meds are now
renewed for another three months and I've to see the diabetic nurse in
October. I shall arrange that early in
that month seeing as we are off to Blackpool for my birthday mid way
through.
Nice and
sunny again today so we are going to have a ride out to Bradgate Park to get
some landscape photos. Neither of us have
done many of them, mainly because of access problems. Bradgate though, has a number of entrances
and one of them takes you to the top part of the park near to Old Johns
Tower. There are some really nice scenes
from there and that's why we are going.
We have of
course done a few landscapes/seascapes.
Here's one ...
I got this at Ballycastle in Antrim a couple of years
ago.
And now for
today's funny ...
An Arab
Sheik was admitted to St Vincents Hospital for heart surgery, but prior to the
surgery, the doctors needed to store blood in case the need arose. As the gentleman had a rare type of blood, it
couldn't be found locally, so, the call went out to all the states.
Finally a Scot was located who had a similar blood type. The Scot willingly donated his blood for the Arab.
After the surgery, the Arab sent the Scotsman as appreciation for giving his blood, a new BMW, diamonds & US dollars.
A couple of days later, once again, the Arab had to go through corrective surgery. His doctor telephoned the Scotsman who was more than happy to donate his blood again.
After the second surgery, the Arab sent the Scotsman a thank-you card ... and a jar of candies.
The Scotsman was shocked that the Arab this time did not reciprocate his kind gesture as he had anticipated. He phoned the Arab and asked him: "I thought you would be generous again, and that you would give me a BMW, diamonds and money... but this time you only gave me a thank-you card and a jar of candies!".
To this the Arab replied: "Aye, but I now have Scottish blood in my veins!"
