It’s Kile’s
12th birthday today. He’s at the stage where all birthdays are a fun
occasion, where he doesn’t look ahead and wonder if he’ll see his next one. The
idea of being 30 seems so far ahead he just can’t see that far. He already
feels invincible and that will only increase as he goes on. I’m not sure I
would want to go back to it and have to of through it all again. Mind you, his
dad got a flying lesson for his 13th birthday, but I don’t think
Kile will get the same next year though.
After
what I said about Jan yesterday, we are no further along the way again. Instead
of the MRI scan she was told they would arrange, they now want normal x-rays of
her neck and spine, along with the blood tests. At least she can get those done
on the same visit. However, from what they were saying, it looks like there is
no surgical procedure to fix the problem. Actually, it’s a bit of a relief
really seeing as Jan’s two stroke happened as she came out of the anaesthetic. Still
with Jan …
I spoke
about her injured foot a few days ago, but it’s still kicking up. We had planned
for a trip over to Brum today cos the market is on. Jan got up this morning and
her foot is causing as much pain as it was before. As she said earlier, ‘If a
short drive up to Hartshill and back and she’s hurting again, how would a 25-mile
drive to Brum and again home be? She’s right actually, so now we’re not going,
and I have no idea when we will be able to get over there.
Sometime
ago I noticed that sealed glazing window unit in our bedroom had broken down
and there was a build-up of condensation inside it. At long last I managed to
remember to call the council and report it. The glazer has just left after
measuring up, and he’ll be back next Wednesday to fit the new unit. Now that is
a surprise, the council working that quickly? Never seen it before.
We have
had a call from Tom this morning saying he will be in Coventry on Saturday and
if we can be there to meet up with him. The story is that he is visiting a
friend in Warrington and will get the train down here for the day. Jan will
meet up with him and then bring him here for a few hours, but it occurred to me
that he foot might not up to doing four ten mile drives over to Coventry. We’ll
see I suppose.

Today’s
funny …
A Scot from Aberdeen was on
holiday in London and every night he returned to his hotel full of the wonders
of the city. So much so that another guest asked: 'Is this your first visit?'
'Aye, it is.'
'You seem to be having a great time.'
'Aye, I am that.'
'Good.'
'And what's more, it's not just a holiday. It's my honeymoon as well.'
'Oh. Then where's your wife?'
'Och. She's been here before.'
'Aye, it is.'
