Yesterday
was a birding day, and a very good day it was too. We were up at 6.45 and on the road by
8.15. Traffic was OK until we got down
to March and there was a major holdup there that held us up for nearly an hour
but we still made good time, arriving at Cley around 1pm. The weather was lovely and bright and
sunny. Bird-wise we did OK adding marsh
harrier and sandwich tern to our year list.
But our star bird we found at Titchwell later in the day.
At the beach
area of Titchwell we saw and grand total of three sanderling and two
igjests. Those two by the way were two
photographers who arrived after us speaking an Eastern European language. They both were wearing waders and headed to
the high tide mark and then into the sea up to about knee level and made their
way along the beach eastwards. The result
was that they got their photos but scared off all the birds as they did
so! Very nice of them eh!
We then
headed for the new Parrvindar hide. In
there we got our star bird. We have seen
ruff on many occasions but we have never seen a male in its breeding plumage
before - and what a picture he was ...
see what I mean. And that was when he wasn't displaying
too! We also got bearded tit while we
were in there too. So altogether, a
decent day's birding.
On Saturday we
are hoping to get out again but taking Kile with us; not so far this time
though, Attenborough near Nottingham.
We've not been there before so hopefully it should be good as well.
My A77 is
working very well. Here's a shot I got
last week when I went up to the Hussy to get blood tests done ...
the A77 has
handle the blue very well. I found that
too with my A350.
Funny time
